Afghan Zalmai

Bio: Dr. Seyal is among the very few dynamic and talented Afghan technocrat who struggles for a longer peace and political stability in Afghanistan. He votes for Afghanistan’s people’s choice. Dr. Hekmatullah Seyal is currently serving at United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Eastern Region as a Political Affairs Officer. Prior to his current position, he served as a Regional Administrative Officer (RAO) in the Southeast of the country for the same organization “UNAMA” Dr. Seyal has served for eight years with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) maintaining different positions ranging from Field officer to that of Administrative and Finance. In late 2002 he has also served for a very short period of time with UNICEF under its child protection department to survey child soldiers in the Eastern Region. During Tora Bora war, Seyal served as a professional Translator for BBC team which he believes was an inspiring experience for him. Prior to his medical studies, he has under taken several professional courses and training both at national and international level. He has an international Master degree in conflictology from UNITARY-Geneva-Switzerland and UOC-Spain. The last international event, he attended was Kabul US Embassy sponsored training on Conflict Transformation Across Culture (CONTAC), a training for SAARC Emerging new leaders. Seyal has passed the American Placement Language Test “APLT” in second position and has also attended “Gwangju Human Right Folk School” in South Korea, funded by UNESCO and is a member of the Solidarity for Democratization Movements in Asia. After attending the CONTAC he has been active as a State Alumni in the ER and is a peace builder activist. Seyal has completed his medical studies from Nangarhar University of Jalalabad Medical Faculty in 2002. Dr. Seyal has good analytical thinking and enjoys a good extensive social network of friends with whom he enjoys working to reform the Afghan governance system. Seyal is a volunteer member with some social organization including women right development networks. Seyal is born in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan and in addition to English fluency he is fluent in Pashto and Dari and can speaks good Urdo/Hindi too. Sincerely yours, Admin
